vidz ... having discovered underwater photography a few of years ago whilst on holiday in pefkohori (greece) and having had some amazing experiences in pursuit of this fascinating hobby both in pefkohori and the maldives, we thought it high time to take it to the next level. so we invested in a high end sony digital video camera and an underwater case. our current underwater photography set-up is mainly olympus-based, so this is quite a departure for us! looking at the footage we brought back, by no means professional, it was a worthwhile expense, as watching the videos we're right back there on the reef at fihalhohi ... which, we suppose, is what it's all about really eh? eend

we made our first forays into the world of underwater video july 2007 in pefkohori. having brought back some amazing still images on previous visits, we were hoping to capture some great moving images too. unfortunately mother nature conspired against us as the sea wasn't as clear as usual due to some severe storms in the area prior to our visit, whilst we did get to use the camera in anger the footage is very basic and mainly of hels and her rubber ring! as previously mentioned, during our visit to the maldives in february 2008 we managed to get some great footage, some of the smaller clips we have uploaded. unfortunately again september 2008/july 2009/july 2010 in pefkohori brought little in the way of footage, soon be back for another go. november/december 2009 found us back in the maldives, got some great footage again this time but have yet to get it sorted for the web! must really get around to sorting that lot out and uploading it!

a cautionary tale ... whilst in pefkohori july 2007, andy committed a cardinal sin and managed to drown hels' new camera! after spending the day in the pool with it in its waterproof case, we then had a session in the bar (nuff said!) and removed it from said case to show our friends the piccies we had taken of the bunch of us acting like big kids (nothing new there ...)! said camera was then placed in andy's swimming shorts pocket and was taken for a swim in the sea for an hour or three ... oops ... scratch one expensive camera, which unfortunately we haven't been able to replace like for like (make sure your travel insurance cover is new for old or you'll be seriously out of pocket!) so hels had an extremely expensive new camera for greece the following year and a new, just as expensive, waterproof case (there's a moral to this story methinks). we've also purchased a sony digicam and fuji waterproof camera, so at least we have that as a back up for our hols now should the worst happen again!!!nd
